Privateer Press Events at MechaniCon 2010

In addition to running demos for Privateer Press games, our local Press Gangers are teaming up to bring us the High Noon and Highlander tournaments at this year’s convention.

In addition to the prizes listed below, we have gotten some great sponsorship from Gale Force 9 and Privateer Press! There will be lots of goodies to grab as well as some great gaming action, so don’t miss it!

Saturday, November 6 – High Noon (cuz that’s when it starts)

This will be a mixed Warmachine and Hordes event.
Registration will begin at 11 am and run until 11:45 am. Pairings and table assignments will be announced at 11:50 am. Dice will roll at Noon.

Rules: This event will use the most current version of the Steamroller 2010 rules found here:http://privateerpress.com/files/Revised_SR2010(2)_0.pdf

This will be a swiss style tournament.

Army Lists: Army list point totals cannot exceed 50 points and cannot be less than 48 points. Players may bring a second army list containing different warcaster or warlock than their primary list for use at the event. Both lists must be from the same faction and are subject to the above listed point constraints. Mercenary players may use different contracts for their two lists.

All models in the army must be fully assembled. Missing pieces such as arms, weapons or heads could disqualify a given model at the Tournament Organizer’s discretion.

Painting: Painted Armies are not required but are strongly encouraged there will be a prize for the best painted army.

Rounds: The tournament will continue until there is only one remaining undefeated player

Timing: Matches will run 100 + 2d6 minutes. Turns will be 12 minutes with one 6 minute time extension per match.

Scenarios: All Steamroller 2010 scenarios are possible in this tournament. The Tournament Organizer will randomly determine the scenarios chosen on the day of the event.

Victory: Victory will be determined in the following order from most significant to least – Assassination Victory, Scenario Victory, Control Points Tiebreaker, Army Points Remaining Tiebreaker.

Final Standings: Scenario Scoring – If there is no clear winner at the end of a tournament, use the number of scenario wins as the tiebreak condition (followed by Strength of Schedule and then Control Point, if needed).

Prizes: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place players will receive Steamroller trophies.There will also be a prize for best painted army. Only fully painted armies will be eligible for this prize.

Sunday, November 7 – Highlander (there can be only one)

This will be a mixed Warmachine and Hordes event.
Registration will begin at 10 am and run until 10:40 am. Pairings and table assignments will be announced at 10:50 am. Dice will roll at 11 am.

Army Lists: Army list point totals cannot exceed 35 points and cannot be less than 33 points. Players are only allowed 1 Warcaster, 1 Unit (with any valid attachments), 1 Solo and may not duplicate Warjacks.

All models in the army must be fully assembled. Missing pieces such as arms, weapons or heads could disqualify a given model at the Tournament Organizer’s discretion.

Scenarios: Kill Box

Victory: Victory will be determined in the following order from most significant to least – Assassination Victory then Army Points Remaining Tiebreaker.

Final Standings: Attrition Scoring – If there is no clear winner at the end of a tournament, use the total number of enemy Army Points destroyed during the tournament as the tiebreak condition (followed by Strength of Schedule and then Control Point, if needed). This method should also be used to determine awards based on Army Point destruction.
When counting destroyed Army Points each round use the following methods.
Destroyed models/units are worth their Army Points value
Units below 50% of their starting number (rounding up) are worth 50% of their Army Points (rounding up) including all attachments.
Count the full Army Points value for inert warjacks and wild warbeasts.
Warcasters and Warlocks are worth 5 Army Points.

Prizes: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place players will receive Steamroller coins.
