Side Events at MechaniCon 2010

In addition to the large tournaments, there will be many side events and demos to participate in. These events will be free to enter with your admission badge. For the latest info please check the forums for details on side events.

  • Warmachine and Hordes (Privateer Press) Demos
  • Munchkin (Steve Jackson Games) card game tournament
  • Zombies! (Twilight Creations, Inc.) tournament
  • Talisman (Fantasy Flight Games) gaming
  • Demos of many other games

More events are being scheduled. Space is still available for more games and demos, please contact us if you are interested in volunteering as a Game Master. Space is filling fast so do not delay.

Battlefleet Gothic Tourney – 2010

Once again, the LXG club will be offering a Battlefleet Gothic Tourney at MechaniCon 2010. Duel among the stars with Games Workshop’s fantastic space combat game.

Friday, November 5

  • 20 players
  • 3 games – 1500 point fleets
  • Fleets must be purchased from the Main Rule Book or Armada.
  • Scoring will be based on Battle, Painting, and Sportsmanship.

Friday Night Fight – 2010

Do you have an Elysian Drop Troop army? Have you collected Vraks Renegades and want to play using the full list? The Friday Night Fight is a three round Warhammer 40,000 veteran’s event that allows the use of Forge World’s Imperial Armor army lists.

Friday, November 5

  • Start time is at noon and will run until 10 PM
  • 70 Players
  • 3 Games – 1850 point lists. One Force Organization Chart
  • Standard 40K rules (no superheavies/flyers/gargantuan creatures)
  • You must bring the appropriate Imperial Armour book/codex for your list
  • Emphasis for scoring will be painting/modeling (about 30%)  and game play (about 70%)
  • Event will be held in the main ballroom that has a concession stand and a bar

Privateer Press Events at MechaniCon 2010

In addition to running demos for Privateer Press games, our local Press Gangers are teaming up to bring us the High Noon and Highlander tournaments at this year’s convention.

Saturday, November 6 – High Noon (cuz that’s when it starts)

This will be a mixed Warmachine and Hordes event. Registration will begin at 11 am and dice will roll at noon.

Army Lists:
Army list point totals cannot exceed 50 points and cannot be less than 48 points.

Players may bring a second army list containing a different Warcaster or Warlock for use at the event. Both lists must be from the same faction and are subject to the above listed point constraints. Mercenary players may use different contracts for their two lists.

Rules:
This event will use the most current version of the Steamroller 2010 rules found here: http://privateerpress.com/company/steamroller-2010-update

This will be a swiss style tournament.

Turn and Match duration will be timed according to the Steamroller 2010 rules.

Painted armies are not required but are greatly encouraged.

Prizes:
1st, 2nd and 3rd place players will receive Steamroller trophies. Placing will be determined by overall Win/Loss record, then Strength of Schedule and finally total control points. There will also be a prize for best painted army. Only fully painted armies will be eligible for this prize.

Sunday, November 7 – Highlander (or There Can Be Only One)

This will be a mixed Warmachine and Hordes event. Registration will begin at 10 am and dice will roll at 11am.

Army Lists:
Players will use only one list for this event. Army list point totals cannot exceed 35 points and cannot be less than 33 points. Players are only allowed 1 warcaster, 1 unit, 1 solo and may not duplicate warjacks.

This will be a swiss style tournament.

Turn and Match duration will be timed according to the Steamroller 2010 rules.
